Sister: silly, sweet, and a wonderful baker

Ben shakes his head in utter exhaustion as my sister and I sing Eurythmics in the worst tone and voice possible.
I yell at her for pestering me from the back seat, just like old times.
And yes, I’m 24 and she’s 22. We’re adults.

As some of you know, my sister and I are very close. However, it hasn’t always been that way. Just like some friends do, they grow apart when one or both go off to college. That was our case.

But I messed up.

It wasn’t distance or the season of our lives that kept us apart. It was me. I had made new friends and had rejected my sister for quite sometime. I would get annoyed whenever she wouldn’t answer her phone or would make a snide comment when I talked about college life. Yeah, we were young and still a little immature. But we were still sisters.

So over the past 2 years, I’ve realized more and more how precious family is and not to take it for granted. That’s the whole reason why I started this business to begin with.

God started to open my eyes to the way I was treating my sister. His heart is never to grow tired or move on to someone else like some friends do. His heart is to be close to us. It’s his nature. As believers, we are his children. He will never abandon us or forsake us.

So, over the last few years, Lanna and I have gotten so much closer. More than ever before, really.
More tears, more laughs, more secrets. That is sisterhood. That’s the heart of God.

So here’s to you, sweet sister! For without you, I’m not sure I could learn how to love our family well. You make it easy to be your sister because of the love you show me all the time. I know I can be overprotective and unruly at times with you, but it’s just because I want to keep you close. I love you and I’m eternally grateful for your friendship. There will never another that compares.

Sister. Friend. Secret Keeper. Chef… and amazing Photo Bomber!
