Knoxville Wedding Photographer – Bailey and Micah’s Viral Wedding
The wedding that set the world on fire and set the bar high for grooms all over the world…
Once I got home and saw those epic moments taken when Micah saw Bailey, I had a feeling it would get a lot of attention locally. But I had no idea it would go viral. Micah’s reaction to seeing Bailey got picked up by ABCnews.com, a news channel in Chicago, our local news channel here, Huffington Post, Dailymail, and many others….then it went international in Brazil and Germany. It was an insanely busy week. I got so much love and so many questions and comments after that week. So I thought I’d share some a few myths that many people might think if a photographer’s work goes viral.
Myth #1: Inquiries and bookings come in and I get booked up like crazy
Truth: Nope. I had a few people see me on the local news and ask about product shoots and reunions (I do neither), but that’s it. But I will say that my internet foot traffic has picked up quite a bit and I may have more of an online business presence in our local community. It was crickets for a few weeks after that post went viral.
Myth #2: I’m rollin’ in the dolla bills, ya’ll!
Truth: Again, nope. These journalists and new sources just offer credit and links back to your website, which ended up working out pretty well with my internet rankings. But no direct paycheck from ABC.
Myth #3: I was busy the week of the viral post
Truth: Absolutely true! Not only was I busy with other weddings, shoots, and clients, but I was on my phone emailing and talking to reporters all week. It put me so behind! It was also wore me out, especially since I was still in my first trimester of pregnancy.
Myth #4: People recognize me in public ( I got this more from my family haha)
Truth: Absolutely not! If they recognize anyone, it’s Micah and Bailey.
When it comes down to it, when people see these photos, the first thing they’re thinking of is not about the photographer….it’s about the couple and the emotion behind that moment. And guess what? I’m okay with that. It may have been an amazing pipe dream to go viral but it’s not a goal. The goal of my business is to have my couples fall in love with each other all over again after they see their photos. When they go through a rough patch, they can look back at their wedding day and remember why they married the other.
I’m absolutely humbled and grateful for this experience. And to be honest, the Lord gave me a confidence with this whole experience. Something I’ve struggled with in my business and my photography. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me with sweet words and congratulations after this experience. And a big thank you to Bailey and Micah for being so available and wanting to share their story ON THEIR HONEYMOON.
Enjoy their wedding story…
