Traveling Photographer – Chicago Wedding – Catherine and Chris
Summer 2015: My conversation with Catherine –
Catherine: Hey Amber, I’d love to book an engagement session with you for this Fall while we’re in town. What’s your availability?
Amber: I’d love to! Are ya’ll getting married in Knoxville? When’s the big day?
Catherine: We’re getting married either June or July in Chicago since it’s where we live now.
Amber: Well, I travel, LOL! But I would love to do engagement photos for ya’ll here in Knoxville.
Catherine: I was just telling my fiancé how awesome it would be to have someone we know take our wedding photos.
Catherine and I went to high school together and we had many mutual friends. When we had our phone consultation, we mostly just talked about life in high school and after high school. It was just like we had picked up where we left off. So I was super excited that she picked me to come to Chicago to shoot her wedding.
This was the first wedding I shot where I had to take a flight and the first flight BY MYSELF. I was a bundle of nerves a few weeks before. I wasn’t worried about myself, I was worried about my gear. Shew. Photographers flying with gear is a whole other level of anxiety. I researched and worried and researched and worried, again. But more on that later…
Chris and Catherine were the perfect hosts for their wedding day. They not only included some key Chicago themes but also some southern flair as well.
All the favors and centerpieces resembled Chicago, including homemade pies from Hoosier Mama’s Bakery. Dinner was Fried Chicken, Fried Green Tomato Salad, Roasted Potatoes, and Salmon. I love that they incorporated her southern roots with some of the food.
